Guest recommendations:
From Peter Birch, UK,
Before my wife and I retired to live permanently in Hua Hin, we enjoyed three holidays in the town as, like most people who visit here, we progressively fell in love with Hua Hin and its people. Two of these holidays were spent at the Amara Inn and both proved to be wonderful experiences.
Khun Em-amorn Wilairat set up this small but very different hotel a short distance away from the centre of the town on Soi Maekab (Soi 94), so that guests could enjoy a more tranquil atmosphere away from the bustle of the town. There is a real feeling of village life to experience in the community around you and yet you are only minutes away from the town and the beach.
Set in beautiful gardens with a large swimming pool and plenty of covered parking spaces, the accommodation consists of 16 mini houses or studios to provide the comforts of home without the problems. The studios are serviced and provide a lounge joined by a corridor to a bathroom and to a small kitchen area. There is a separate double bedroom. Cooking facilities and crockery provided mean that guests can choose to cook for themselves or the friendly but unobtrusive staff will organise the delivery of Thai or European food from nearby restaurants. The staff also quickly arrange transport for guests choosing to go into Hua Hin town or elsewhere.
It is a friendly place where people become friends and I know that Khun Em-amorn stays in touch with many of her guests who return and often become regular long-stayers. We spent many hours sitting on the small patio or around the swimming pool enjoying the peace and also meeting and chatting to other guests from many different countries.
The Amara Inn particularly suited us because we like to be friendly but independent. We like to prepare our own food when we choose to and to have our own laundry organised for us but to have the facility - a small yard area enclosed at the rear of each studio – to wash and dry our ‘smalls’. We like to choose when we sit out on the patio and share conversation with other guests or when to shut the door and have privacy in a home, which is not claustrophobic like an hotel bedroom.
So, thank you Khun Em-amorn for a lovely experience, which contributed a great deal to our decision to spend the rest of our lives in peaceful retirement in Hua Hin.
