Teaching in Hua Hin

“Ok”, you say, “Living there sounds really great, but why should I want to teach there?” Again, for me that was easy also. After finishing my TEFL course (that I wished had been offered here in Hua Hin as it is now), I shopped around for a job that was going to offer me a great place to live and a great working environment. I turned down job offers in Pattaya and Bangkok because I just didn’t want to live in that kind of hectic surroundings. Then, I received a response from WECI. in Hua Hin. Just walking in the door I knew this was the place for me. Everybody made me feel so comfortable and welcome.

The owner and Managing Director, Khun Wanna, makes you feel more like you’ve been adopted into her family rather than just employed. Everyone there considers her to be more like their mom or sister or best friend instead of their employer. She and her Director of Studies, Gill Hart made my transition from the hectic, retrace pace of working in America to working in Thailand, one of the most enjoyable, pleasant and memorable experiences in my life. I truly knew I had made the right decision. They helped me find a suitable place to live, made sure that I had everything I needed for each and every lesson, worked hand in hand with me to develop new ideas, and just made me feel at ease about everything. We have meetings with the entire staff, not only to discuss school and teaching items but also just to spend time together and sharing life experiences.

I’ve been given opportunities to teach at some of the most prestigious hotels in Hua Hin. I’ve taught adult classes, teenagers and young learners. Khun Wanna and Gill worked with me constantly to make sure you find your niche in teaching comfort. I’ve been sent out to teach in high schools around town and been invited to participate in social and educational events at schools and local area. I even got invited to do a modeling shot on the beach for one of the many International hotels here.

WECI teachers use music and plays and schedule classroom activities to give, not only the students but, the teachers an interesting and invigorating learning environment. Unlike many schools I’ve seen, at WECI you have the unique opportunity to feed off each other for fresh ideas and solutions so you are never left stranded on your own. We have a widely diverse staff of teachers from Ireland, Scotland, England, Australia, Canada and America. This in itself offers a broad spectrum of experiences and teaching styles to draw from.

As teaching here in Thailand is nothing at all like you would teach back home, doing the TEFL is a very smart move indeed. Doing your TEFL in Hua Hin with Gill is a huge plus, plus! With a degree and a TEFL under your belt, you will find yourself in high demand, armed and ready for an adventure in teaching.
