Learning Methods & Materials
Trainees will be exposed to a variety of different learning methods and approaches and will often be asked to take on the role of an English Language Learner, in order to experience TEFL methodologies through the eyes of the students. This is commonly referred to in training circles as “Training the Trainerâ€.
Whatever the methodology, you can guarantee that as a trainee you will be asked to actively participate in the training room, working in pairs and group and collaborate with your peers. You will also be asked to carry out mini presentations, use the white board and lead discussions and feedback - basically all the things that you would require your own students to do.
Teaching Practice
Trainees will be asked to carry out two types of teaching practice during the course.
- Teaching Practice with the peers, during class time
- Teaching Practice with real students at minimum of three different levels (young learners, teen ages, adults and business classes).
You will be required to plan your lessons thoroughly and complete a lesson plan. Your lessons will be observed by experienced, qualified teachers/trainers who will provide you with a detail critique of your teaching, praising you for what you have done well and giving suggestions for improvement. Responsibility of Trainees For successful completion of the course, trainees will be required to attend the input sessions, carry out relevant coursework and reading, complete end of module exams, and complete the required teaching practice assignments. There is also a final course exam where trainees
are required to answer opened ended questions related to the modules they have studied over the 4 week period – this also serves as an effective review before going out into the “real worldâ€.
Class Size Trainees can expect between 4-10 trainees in their class.
