Visa & Work Permit Info

WECI provides the work permit for full time teachers. To obtain the work permit a potential employee needs to have a "non immigrant B" type visa. This normally requires an "offer of employment letter" from WECI and may require you to leave and re-enter Thailand should you have already entered Thailand on a Tourist or Transit visa.

However, you can apply for a "non immigrant B" visa before arrival at any Thai Embassy or Consulate, providing you have a letter offering you employment. The teacher pays for the initial visa and transportation costs.

You will also need to pay for a number of photographs and medical certificates, which are required for the work permit application.

You will also need the original copies of your Degree/TEFL certificates, and these are translated into Thai at the school's expense.
